Job Description

.pw, one of the many business units of Directi is a social communication platform consisting of innovative, decentralized, collaborative applications for millions of businesses and consumers worldwide. .pw applications will be deployed over hundreds of servers, accessed by millions of users, consumed by a variety of client environments ranging from regular HTML 4 compliant web-browsers to RIA technologies like AJAX and Flash / Silverlight, "Rich" clients like WPF and Outlook, and Mobile environments like Symbian, iPhone, Windows Mobile and Blackberry. The applications include mail servers, XMPP servers and clients, VOIP clients, and various other domain-specific applications, built using the relevant technology for the job - Microsoft, Java, LAMP etc.

A Sr. Software Developer (Testing) profile on the .pw software development team is responsible for developing and coding test suites using Java, C#, Javascript, Selenium/Sahi/Watir, JMeter and other scripting / coding tools. This role involves as much coding as a Software Development role, except that the coding will involve coding tests. This person owns a set of modules for a product for which she ensures that the module meets the quality bar set by the Product Lead and the Product Architect for each iteration.

Responsibilities

Work with the Product Architect to plan, design and deploy the product specific test automation and integrated build environment.
Work with the Product Architect to define coding guidelines and best practices enforceable by the developers using static analysis tools.
Design and ensure that the following tests are carried out in an automated way:
- Test cases and scripts for each use case scenario for each feature for modules owned
- Integration testing and regression testing on each build
- Stress testing on each build
- Fuzz-testing to ensure correct input validation at each entry point
- Boundary condition testing
Ensure high code coverage for all testing
Work with developers to help identify problem areas in code using analysis and profiling tools
Design and build diagnostic features in products to detect error conditions, log them, raise alerts and analyze the error data to establish an automated quality feedback loop
Contribute to the definition and implementation of new test strategies and process improvement
Mentor other individuals, take active participation in Recruitment and Training processes

Requirements

Experience: 3-6 years

Educational Qualifications:

Academic credentials not important, but relevant engineering degree will be a plus
Strongly analytical and logical reasoning skills
Passion to learn and educate others

Detailed Requirements:

Excellent skills in at least one programming language
Solid understanding of computing technology fundamentals
Strong knowledge of Internet, Web-Services and Databases
Passion for finding bugs and fixing them
Process oriented with a penchant for automation
Demonstrated ability to rapidly master new technologies
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member as well as individual contributor
Strong oral/written communication skills in English
Exposure to full development lifecycle
At least one year of experience in at least two of the following areas:
- Setting up and carrying out manual and Automated Testing of .Net and Java/J2EE applications (Desktop and/or Web)
- Using SCM tools like CVS, SVN and issue-tracking tools like JIRA/Mantis
- Setting up and using automated Testing Tools (Desktop and/or Web) like Sahi, Watir, Rational Robot, Winrunner, Visual Studio, etc
- Setting up and using automated Test Environments using virtualization technologies

Knowledge of Agile development methodologies (XP, Scrum, etc.)
Active blogger
Contribution to Open Source Projects
Conversant in Klingon
